Like a lot of things in life, you pay what you get, and with insurance, a “cheap” plan may not be the best option for your needs.

Consider this:

If you purchase a “cheap” plan, i.e. meaning you pay a low monthly payment, you won’t be getting a lot in return. Inexpensive health insurance plans typically have high deductibles, high co-pays, high co-insurance and/or no coverage on certain medical services. In other words, if you plan on going to the doctor a lot, a “cheap” plan will end up costing you more in the long run.

Now, if you don’t go to the doctor a lot and don’t plan on going to the doctor in the near future, a “cheap” plan may be a reasonable option for you.

Buying an inexpensive health insurance plan is always a gamble, but if cost is an issue, there area few ways to go around it.
