Basically this:

kevin home alone

If you miss open enrollment, you’re stuck without insurance for another nine months.

…Unless you qualify for a qualifying event outside of open enrollment. What’s a qualifying event? Check out our blog post on qualifying events here.

Another bummer thing is that you may be subject to paying a tax penalty for not having insurance. As of 2016, the tax penalty is $695 per person OR 2.5% of your household income (whichever is higher).

In other word: IT’S SUPER IMPORTANT THAT YOU PURCHASE HEALTH INSURANCE DURING OPEN ENROLLMENT.

You don’t want to end up like Kevin McCallister home alone without insurance, right?
